Green Childcare

I am somewhat of an environmental enthusiast, and so when I saw an article in Kiwi magazine about this eco-friendly childcare center, I was really excited! It would be interesting to know specific details about what earth friendly choices their making, but even regardless of the specifics, it's a step in the right direction, right? I would love to see more of this going on!!

Hi Amy,
This does look quite interesting & definitely a major step in the right direction. Have you checked out burbanmom.blogspot.com? She has lots of thoughtful green suggestions.

Hi there,
I work with an organization called Urban-Ag Ecology. They have a program called GreenCare for Children (www.greenchildcare.org). It's an educational resource for childcare providers, parents, and others that discusses potential hazards to kids in day care. Currently they're putting together a certification program so providers can go through a training and commit to making better choices in pesticide/household chemical use, lead exposure, arsenic exposure (treated lumbers), and indoor air quality. They're a terrific organization and are continually putting new updates and info on their site. You can sign up for their mailing list if you want to be up to date....
